Ten publicly listed companies mostly owned by the Zobels, Sys and Aboitizes were ranked the highest in terms of good governance in 2017, according to the Institute of Corporate Directors.
ICD, which used the Asean Good Governance Scorecard to review 245 Philippine-listed companies, said the top 10 PLCs obtained a score of 100 points and above out of the possible maximum score of 130 points.
The top 10 companies are Aboitiz Equity Ventures Inc., Aboitiz Power Corp., Ayala Corp., Ayala Land Inc., China Banking Corp., Globe Telecom Inc., Manila Water Co. Inc., Philex Mining Corp., SM Investments Corp. and SM Prime Holdings Inc.
Eleven PLCs posted a score of between 90 and 99.99. These are Bank of the Philippine Islands, BDO Leasing and Finance Inc., BDO Unibank Inc., Belle Corp., Cebu Holdings Inc., Cebu Property Ventures and Development Corp., Manila Electric Co., Philippine National Bank, PLDT Inc., Premium Leisure Corp. and Semirara Mining and Power Corp.
