The city government of Makati announced Monday that a total of 2,164 individuals were apprehended for violating ordinances and national laws in day-and-night operations conducted throughout the city in the past two months.

Based on the latest report submitted to Mayor Abigail Binay, those apprehended from May 10 to July 26 include 1,029 individuals who were caught for smoking in prohibited areas, 144 for drinking in public places, 873 minors violating curfew ordinance, and 96 for other offenses.

Earlier, Binay exhorted the Makati City police force to intensify peacekeeping efforts in the barangays and at the central business district, especially at night time.

“Establishing police visibility, especially during unholy hours, has proven to be an effective deterrent to crime,” she said.

Binay commended Makati police chief Senior Supt. Rogelio Simon for the remarkable accomplishments of his office barely two months after he assumed his post on May 10.
