Pambansang Bae Alden Richards is thrilled that for his latest primetime offering titled Victor Magtanggol, he’s not only the lead star but is also part of the show’s creative team.

Apart from starring in 'Victor Magtanggol,' Alden Richards is also part of the creative team.

“Actually, I’m very grateful to GMA for granting my request to be part of the creative group,” he says. “Initially, I just tried since I just had a workshop abroad with Anthony Bova. It taught me a lot of things like, it’s possible for a star to be involved with a program’s creative process along with the director and writer.”

He added that since Victor Magtanggol serves as his grand comeback on primetime,he thought if it’s okay for him to be part of its creative group.

“Luckily, when I pitched in the idea to the management, they agreed. They gave me the freedom to help in the show’s various aspects. Like they would ask if I’m okay with the scenes, the script, or the costume.  This definitely made me love Victor Magtanggol even more. It gave me a sense of ownership of the show.”

With this development, many are curious if he’s interested to direct a project in the coming days.

“That’s part of my future options. It’s also different when you’re working behind the cameras. It gives you a different high.”

Speaking of Victor Magtanggol, which aired on Monday, how does it feel that it would directly compete with the already established Ang Probinsyano starring Coco Martin over at the rival station?

“Of course the pressure is there. For sure, all eyes are set on us. We’re the new one while the competition has been there for quite some time already. But I still feel confident of our offering. It’s one exciting material. After watching the first episode, I can say that all of our hard work paid off.”

Alden added that the series exceeded his original expectation. He’s glad that he can really see everybody doing their respective assignments very well. Considering that it’s a gargantuan production, he’s proud that it came out very polished and the effects are a technical marvel.

The Pambansang Bae pitches in his latest TV program to the viewing public.

“I hope boob tube fanatics would get hooked watching Victor Magtanggol, which is one of the Kapuso’s big-budgeted offerings this year. I gave my best in this one so as not to disappoint my big bosses. I’m really keeping my fingers crossed that people would get entertained by the show,” ends Alden.

For the first time, Kristoffer Martin plays a villain role via Victor Magtanggol, and is happy to get the part.

“It was my personal choice actually. I really requested that I be given a mean character this time. In the story, I play Janine Gutierrez’s overprotective stepbrother who has secret feelings for her,” he states.

Why a villain role when in his previous GMA outings, he was the male lead?

“Let’s just say I want to explore other avenues where I can hone my acting skills. I think playing a bad role on screen is quite challenging. That’s why I’m happy that GMA gave me the chance to try it. Besides, it’s with Alden (Richards) who’s my good friend. He’s the one who first told me that I’m part of the show.”

As early as now, is he already anticipating the influx of bashers because of his playing ‘contravida’ to the Pambansang Bae?

“That’s just fine with me. It’s part of the bargain. Anyway, what they tirade is your character in the show, not you personally, right?” avers Kristoffer.
