Agrarian Reform Secretary John Castriciones on Wednesday ordered all regional offices to resolve land cases and deliver justice for farmer-beneficiaries of the Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program.

He said the Department of Agrarian Reform’s performance review and planning session is currently being conducted to resolve and address problems in implementing agrarian reform.

At least 1,126 agrarian legal cases have already been resolved in Central Visayas in the last six months, he said.

In a recent performance review and planning session in Cavite’s Tagaytay City, regional director Luis Bueno told Castriciones that of the 922 agrarian legal cases targeted to be solved for the first semester of 2018, the agency was able to exceed its target and resolved 1,126 agrarian legal cases.

“Most of these cases have been dragging on for years. With the directive of Secretary Castriciones to streamline legal procedures, we have fast-tracked our legal procedures. We will do our best to help farmers fight for their rights and welfare,” he said.

Meanwhile, Castriciones listed down the agency’s accomplishments in Western Visayas as far as the provision of credit access and development to over 6,000 farmers is concerned.

Regional director Eugene Follante said 68 agrarian reform beneficiary organizations have been provided with access to credit through the agrarian production credit program and other lending institutions in the region.

“We want more farmers to get access to credit. That’s why we are intensifying our efforts in evaluating proposal for credit to agrarian reform beneficiaries,” he said.
