The management of Philippine Airlines on Wednesday warned the public against unscrupulous individuals engaged in false advertising or spreading misleading information.
This was the third time the PAL management came up with a warning against false advertising posted on social media involving airline promotions.
“We are again warning the public on a fake advertisement/promo currently circulating on social media (with url: philippineairlines.com-cheapflights.today) luring netizens to answer a survey to be able to avail of the “2 tickets to everyone for only $1” citing “to celebrate PAL’s Anniversary,” the airline said in a statement.
“The public must not fall prey to bogus ads such as these. False advertising will not be tolerated. We have reported the material to the proper authorities for appropriate action. Netizens are advised not to respond to the material; such action may compromise users’ profiles,” it added.
PAL also stated that official advertisements are released through its official website Philippine Airlines and through PAL’s official FB account @flyPAL.
In May last year, false PAL advertisement was posted on social media, stating it was also giving away free tickets to passengers as part of its anniversary.
Such false and malicious advertising through the misuse of the Facebook platform will not be tolerated,” said PAL spokesperson Ma. Cielo Villaluna.
PAL made the same warning in the wake of a fake advertisement early last year stating that followers of the airline will get a free trip to Boracay if they like the post and write as the comment “Salamat Philippine Airlines.”

Under the Consumer Act of the Philippines, any person found guilty of false advertising shall be subjected to fines or imprisonment of not less than three months but not more than two years or both upon the discretion of the court.
