CAMP GEN. VICENTE LIM, Laguna —A former vice mayor of Sto. Tomas, Batangas was wounded in a gun attack late Saturday evening.

Supt. Chitadel Gaoiran, chief of the regional public information office of the Calabarzon regional police, identified the victim as Ferdinand Malolos Ramos, 59.

Gaoiran said Ramos was on his way home to Barangay Poblacion 2 when an unidentified suspect appeared and shot the victim on the side of his left face.

Ramos was rushed to the St. Cabrini Hospital for medical treatment.

Gaoiran said the regional police command headquarters has activated its “Oplan Iron Curtain” directing all adjacent police stations and units in Sto. Tomas and nearby towns and cities to cooperate in the investigation and manhunt operations on the suspect.

During the May 2016 local polls, he was the vice mayoral running mate of Maligaya but the tandem lost in the hotly contested polls.
