More minors still roaming the streets during curfew hours and despite the government´s intensified campaign against night loiterers aimed at ensuring a peaceful community.

In the southern part of Metro Manila, a total of 157 minors were placed under police custody for violating curfew hours in the cities of Makati, Pasay, Las Piñas, Parañaque, and Muntinlupa.

Based on the accomplishment report released by the Southern Police District from July 8 – 9, the Pasay City police station got the highest number of apprehension followed by Parañaque City police station.

SPD spokesperson Jenny Tecson said the latest operation also resulted in the arrest of 86 individuals for smoking in public places, transport terminals and conveyances and 40 others for drinking liquors and urinating in public, and caught half naked.

SPD director Tomas Apolinario Jr. said his office is supporting the government’s campaign initiated by President Rodrigo Duterte to go against idlers to get rid of people loitering in the streets, especially at night.

He reminded his men that they should arrest only those who will violate municipal or city ordinances like Urinating and Drinking in Public Places, Half Naked, Making Loud Noise, and Curfew of Minors, among others.

The authorities clarified that the police can question any suspicious person loitering but not necessarily violating any specific above cited ordinance regarding their presence and business in the area.

These persons should not be apprehended but instead be advised to be cautious or rather leave the area so as not to be victimized by lawless elements.
