State pension fund Government Service Insurance System and the Philippine Postal Corp. have partnered once again in conducting home visits to validate the status of all GSIS old-age and survivorship pensioners who are 80 years old and above.
“We are reminding our pensioners who are at least 80 years old that they are exempt from the personal-appearance requirement that GSIS currently implements. Since they cannot go to GSIS to activate their status, we are bringing our services to them through the representatives of PhilPost, our partner-agency,” GSIS PGM Jesus Clint O. Aranas said in a press statement.
Under the GSIS-PhilPost memorandum of agreement, PhilPost couriers bearing the letter of introduction from GSIS will deliver to pensioners GSIS status verification forms on their registered addresses; confirm the pensioner’s identity through personal information questions; cross-check the information on their eCard, UMID card, or other valid IDs with those in their GSVFs; and take photos of them.
“We trust that our pensioners will continue to extend courtesy and support to PhilPost in this joint undertaking. Through the concerted efforts of the two institutions, pensioners are assured of an easy and more convenient information revalidation process,” PGM Aranas added.
The GSIS chief also said that he is encouraging pensioners to request the PhilPost courier to present his ID to ensure that they will not fall prey to unscrupulous individuals or scammers who take advantage of vulnerable pensioners or their relatives.
PhilPost has been assisting GSIS in visiting pensioners since September 2016.
This year, 66,191 pensioners across the country will be home-visited to check their status, ensuring thus the uninterrupted payment of their pension.
