GATORADE welcomed its newest ambassador Scottie Thompson of Barangay Ginebra in simple rites at the Gatorade Hoops Center recently.
Thompson, who was crowned 2014 Most Valuable Player of the National Collegiate Athletic Association while playing for the University of Perpetual Help System DALTA, joined teammate LA Tenorio and volleyball star Alyssa Valdez as Gatorade’s newest Filipino endorsers.
Considered as one of the Philippine Basketball Association’s best rebounding guards today, Thompson admitted his excitement when he was asked to be Gatorade’s ambassador
“When I was first told that I would be Gatorade’s new ambassador, of course I was excited”, Scottie said. “I always counted on Gatorade when I would start dehydrating on the court.”
Pepsico Philippines’ Marketing Manager for Hydration Irvin Sta. Maria said the choice of Thompson as Gatorade ambassador was a no-brainer.
“He inspires people and with Gatorade, we want to see him to inspire more, especially aspiring athletes, to always put in the hard work and understand the value of proper hydration in fueling sports greatness,” said Sta. Maria.
After his tour of duty with the Altas, Thompson was instrumental in Hapee Fresh Fighters’ title conquest in the PBA D-League.
He was then drafted fifth overall by Barangay Ginebra, where his stock skyrocketed.
