Metal experts debunk claims of Coseteng

The Department of Trade and Industry and a group of metallurgical engineers and industry experts debunked the claims of former Sen. Anna Dominique Coseteng about the induction furnace smelting technology as not safe.

Trade Secretary Ramon Lopez said the former senator was doing the rounds in the industry spreading inaccurate information about the technology.

“She’s really going around. In fact, I had to meet her before also to hear the complaints. So we called several consultations of stakeholders and technical experts who are mostly metallurgical engineers,” said Lopez.

He noted the team of experts denied Coseteng’s allegations but the former senator was not convinced.

“When she lost in the arguments, she still continued to make noise. Some say she wants to expose an expose that’s not there. They can go meet the experts again,” Lopez said.

He noted that the department simply listened and issued a ruling based on research and interpellations.

The tests were available for review by Coseteng and would be made public for transparency, Lopez added.
