The Department of Foreign Affairs assured the family of murdered Henry John Acorda, an overseas Filipino worker in Slovakia, that it will do everything to make sure that his murder will be brought to justice.
In a statement, the DFA also assured that the agency has already provided a lawyer to handle the case and assist the family in preparing for the repatriation of Acorda’s remains.
“The Consulate has already discussed Acorda’s case with local lawyers,” the DFA said.
“We give our assurance to Henry’s family that we will do everything to make sure that those responsible for his death are brought to justice,” the DFA said.
Based on the report of the Philippine Embassy in Vienna, Acorda succumbed to injuries he sustained after he was beaten up in a street in Slovakia’s capital city, Bratislava.
On May 26, Acorda was attacked by two men when he tried to defend two women they were harassing.
