Belmonte: Use the ballot wisely

A WEEK before the May 14 barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections, Quezon City Vice Mayor Joy Belmonte on Tuesday urged voters to “use the ballot wisely to elect well-intentioned leaders and replace the ones they dislike.”

She told voters to take advantage of the election as an opportune time to let their voices be heard for their future and the sake of their children.

“Use the ballot to choose your leaders. If we feel that they have not served us well, don’t vote for them. We will use the ballot,” Belmonte said.

If by any chance their chosen candidates would not win, the vice mayor said the constituents must unite as one and be of big help to the city government.

“In unity, there is strength. In unity, there is power. In unity, our voices can be heard,” she added.

If elected as mayor in 2019, Belmonte vowed to ensure not to waste the people’s money by implementing projects and programs that have no real significance.

“I will always ask you. I will also consult you. What are your needs? What are the services you want the city to fund? I’m a consultative leader. I really believe in participatory government. That is what I am going to do,” she said.
