Caloocan Mayor Oscar Malapitan told the members of the National Capital Region’s Peace and Order Council that the number of crimes in the city have dropped due to the local government’s efforts such as road illumination, additional CCTV cameras, police visibility and an effective out-patient rehabilitation system for drug addicts.

The NCR POC includes Metro mayors, Regional Directors of Philippine National Police, Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency, National Bureau of Investigation, Bureau of Customs, Department of Environment and Natural Resources, Department of the Interior and Local Government, Bureau of Jail Management and Penology, Bureau of Fire Prevention, and other government agencies related to peace and order.

The region’s chairman, Quezon City Mayor Herbert Bautista swore into   NCRPO Chief Camilo Cascolan, as Vice Chairman of the regional council.

Cascolan said he will continue with the Oplan Double Barrel and eradicate high value targets or crime leaders.

Cascolan also reported that due to the current gun ban, they built 1,648 police checkpoints across Metro Manila that resulted in the confiscation of 69 firearms, 736 deadly weapons and 154 arrests.
