TWELVE-YEAR-OLD Felicity Sagaysay’s heads up plays in the first set carried Escuela de Sophia of Caloocan to a 25-10, 25-7 win over Colegio San Agustin-Makati Sunday at the St. Placid gymnasium of the San Beda University-Manila campus in Mendiola.
Sagaysay stuck hard with seven points and her efforts at the frontline allowed the Caloocan spikers to take the lead, 16-10, and eventually claim the 13-and-under crown of the 22nd Women’s Volleyball League Championships.
With her teammates stepping up in the second set, the Caloocan spikers moved away, 10-0, and when it was over, Sagaysay took home the MVP honors in their category.
“Tuluy-tuloy lang sila sa training nila. Nagbunga rin ang pinaghirapan nila. First time silang champion,” said coach Marco Antonio Gojol.
La Salle-Zobel wound up third after beating San Beda-Alabang, 25-14, 23-25, 15-8.
In other encounters, Holy Family School of Quezon City ruled the the 13-under development level after stopping St. Paul College-Makati, 25-23, 25-23, with Marielle Llorente bringing home MVP honors.
School of the Holy Spirit-QC prevailed over Assumption, 25-23, 25-12, in the battle for third.
King’s Montessori School claimed the 18-under competition division crown after thwarting Arellano University, 25-18, 25-19, 19-23.
San Pedro Relocation Center National High School topped the battle for third after they won over Chiang Kai Shek College, 27-25, 21-25, 25-13.
CSA-Makati stopped Arellano University, 25-15, 25-19, in the fight for the 18-under development crown.
St. Dominic Savio bagged third place after finishing off HFS, 25-19, 26-24.
