Visual artist Minette de Joya mounts her collection of paintings inspired by nuggets she picked up on her personal journey. The exhibit, entitled “Inscriptions from the Heart” runs until March 15 at the Sunshine Place in Makati City.
According to De Joya, translating her impressions into art work was very challenging.
“What I’ve found most challenging and gratifying, at the same time, is translating these impressions and unlocking the creative beauty that lies beneath each stroke … in every color that’s intuitively chosen … and in the magic that eventually unfolds as I express that which is in me at a particular moment,” she relates.
Her heart and soul’s revelations reflected in the complex interplay of colors, where one blends into another.
De Joya is grateful to Sunshine Place for providing the platform and the support to cultivate her artistic talent and hone her skills in expressing ideas and emotions in the visual language.
The artist credits Maestro Fidel Sarmiento (AAP President) who conducts art classes at the Senior Hub for his tireless mentorship.
“Having hibernated from this hobby for nearly three decades, there was literally a considerable amount of “brushing up” that was done,” shares De Joya.
