NATIONAL University used its height advantage to beat San Beda College-Taytay, 70-62, in a one-game title match to capture the 14-Under title in the Manila Brotherhood Basketball League Association, Inc. over the weekend at the Trinity University of Asia in Quezon City.

The age-group’s Most Valuable Player in MJ Vinoya lorded it over the paint as he top-scored for the team with 18 points, while Kenji Duremdes and AJ Militar provided an offensive spark from the outside en route to Bullpups’ first championship victory in the league organized by MBBLAI founding president Erick Kirong of Macway Travel, along with Commissioner Benjamin “Boy” Quisido.

The Bullpups dictated the tempo in the early goings and slowly padded their 31-24 halftime lead into a double-digit spread in the third canto as they never looked back.

In the other age bracket final match, Elite Pilipinas of coach Mark Herrera prevailed over Warriors Basketball Club, 94-70.

Slotman Derrick Dumangcas led all scorers with 18 points, while Lebron Nieto, Luis Barros and Tim Cruz provided support in a third-quarter breakaway.

Meanwhile, San Beda College-Taytay outplayed the Warriors BC, 76-62, for the 13-Under title.
