• All streets from J.P. Rizal to Hipodromo heading to Globe Circuit Makati

Romulo Salgado Jr., officer-in-charge of the city’s Information and Community Relations Department, said these areas will be used as assembly point for festival participants on Feb. 25 from 1 p.m. onwards.

The city’s Public Safety Department also advised motorists and commuters heading to Manila to take J.P. Rizal and go straight past A.P. Reyes, instead of turning right.

Salgado said the remaining portion of A.P. Reyes Street will be made two-way traffic to give way to motorists.

Public utility jeepneys plying the Mantrade-Libertad-PRC route coming from Pasong Tamo Extension are advised to turn left to J.P. Rizal, then left to Pasong Tirad toward their destination.

Participants and guests of the event can use the parking space of Globe Circuit Makati.

The festival will begin with a parade of participants, village officials and residents, city employees, private sector representatives, senior citizens, and students at 4 p.m., which will be followed by a dance competition.

This year’s highlight will be a dance competition where participants are expected to showcase a creative interpretation of different environmental issues.

The competition is divided into three clusters: elementary schools, high schools and villages. For each group, some 30-40 members, excluding musicians and props men, will be performing.

For this year, three elementary schools will give their visual interpretation of Endangered Species and dance to the tune of retro or pop, namely, Pitogo Elementary School, Nicanor Garcia Elementary School, and San Antonio Village Elementary School.

High school students from San Antonio National High School, Makati Science High School and Pitogo High School will perform either Waltz or ballet, clad in flower or insect-inspired costumes.

Six groups of performers from the villages will imitate marine life while ballroom dancing.
