Mayor to lead twin Caloocan events Feb. 16

Caloocan City Mayor Oscar Malapitan will lead the month-long 56th cityhood celebration on Feb. 16, which is also the Chinese New Year.

A two-day motorcade featuring the different clusters of public service of the city government kicked off last weekend in both North and South districts.

On Feb. 14, Thanksgiving Mass and inauguration of Caloocan City Complex Park will take place starting 3 p.m. A mass wedding will be held at the City Sports Complex in Bagumbong in the northern part of the city. Meanwhile, a motorcycle festival featuring Italian professional motorcycle road race and MotoGrand Prix World champion, Valentino Rossi. The motorcycle exhibition will be staged on 10th Avenue.

On Feb. 15, a Thanksgiving Mass to be followed by the inauguration of CCCP located right in front of the new city hall on 8th Street corner 8th Avenue. Fireworks display will signal the cityhood anniversary and the Chinese New Year celebration. Prior to the countdown, concert featuring Itchyworms and other special guests will be shown.

Outstanding citizens and model employees will be named during the OCA Awards Night on Feb. 16 at the Bulwagang Katipunan.

Pre-pageant night of Miss Caloocan 2018 will take place on Feb. 19, at the CCC Park, while the coronation night is on Feb. 23 at the City Sports Complex in Bagumbong, North Caloocan.

Mega job fairs are scheduled on Feb. 20 and March 8 at south and north city halls, respectively.

A special event featuring “tiburins” will be held at the stretch of C3 Road on Feb. 18 at 1 p.m.

Malapitan invites all the city residents to take part in the month-long celebration.
