DPWH completes P2b worth of infra projects in Bulacan

The Department of Public Works and Highways has completed various government infrastructure projects worth P2 billion in Bulacan province under the Build, Build, Build program of the Duterte administration.

“We have built roads and bridges that reduced travel time and improve road quality and safety and constructed dikes, seawalls, river control, revetment and drainage canals that will protect lives and properties from effect of natural disasters,” the agency said.

“Projects completed worth of national roads, bridges, flood control structures, and other infrastructure projects in 2017 worth a total P2.093 billion,” the DPWH said in a statement.

DPWH Bulacan district engineer Ramiro M. Cruz said the completed projects are located in San Jose del Monte City and the towns of Angat, San Rafael, San Ildefonso, San Miguel, Doña Remedios Trinidad, Norzagaray, Sta. Maria, Marilao, Meycauayan and Obando.

“Among the completed projects were 19.59 kilometers of national roads, 88 lineal meters of bridges, 31 flood control structures, and 105 other infrastructure projects,” he said.

“We have built roads and bridges that reduced travel time and improve road quality and safety, and constructed dikes, seawalls, river control, revetment and drainage canals that will protect lives and properties from effect of natural disasters”, Cruz said.

“Also completed were 88 units of school buildings with 755 classrooms amounting P1.297 Billion under the Department of Education’s Basic Education Facilities Fund and 12.24 kilometers of farm-to-market roads worth P105 million under the Department of Agriculture’s budget.

Among the priority projects in 2017 is the rehabilitation and improvement of the 41 kilometers Eastern Bulacan Road that interconnects the municipalities of Dona Remedios Trinidad, San Rafael, San Ildefonso and San Miguel.

Ramiro expressed confidence that this road network will make the next investment and tourism destination in the Province of Bulacan supportive to the President’s vision to open-up the countryside to development.

He said that new roads are accessible to the National Capital Region or Metro Manila, and the provinces of Aurora and Quezon on the east, Nueva Ecija on the North, Pampanga on west, Rizal on the southeast, the strategic location of Bulacan which now also opens the province as an expansion area for industries and rapid urbanization to attract investors and boost economic activities.

In addition to projects under the 2017 Regular Infrastructure Program, DPWH Bulacan Second District Engineering Office also completed the construction of 88 units of schoold buildings consisting of 755 classrooms amounting P1.297 billion under the Department of Education’s Basic Education Facilities Fund and 12.24 kilometers of farm-to-market roads worth P105 Million under the Department of Agriculture’s budget.

Accessible to National Capital Region or Metro Manila and bounded by provinces of Aurora and Quezon on the east, Nueva Ecija on the North, Pampanga on west, Rizal on the southeast, the strategic location of Bulacan opens the province as an expansion area for industries and rapid urbanization is attracting investment and economic activities.

The DPWH also completed P5.7 billion worth of infrastructure projects in Western Visayas Region.

The agency accomplished a total of 727 projects out of the 1,084 programmed projects in the amount of P23.310 Billion under FY 2017 Regular Infra Program, which includes construction of roads, bridges, flood control structures and other infrastructure to include roads leading to tourism areas in the islands of Panay, Negros and Guimaras.

Other than the completed projects, the DPWH is also undertaking a total of 342 on-going projects in the provinces of Iloilo, Aklan, Antique, Capiz, Guimaras, and Negros Occidental.
