Marian Rivera promises to make it up for daughter Zia after her top-rating prime time fantasy series Super Ma’am ends this month.

“That’s true!” she avers. “The show aired longer than originally planned. Instead of three months, we lasted until six. Of course, I’m grateful that we had a strong viewership. Ratings were good.

“But it was like I did two soaps because of the extended airing time. It’s also not easy to do Super Ma’am because of its visual effects and action scenes. They’re hard and meticulous to execute. I’m just happy that we did well. So at this point that the show will have its curtain call, it’s about time that I focus on my daughter.”

According to the Kapuso Prime Time Queen, spending quality time with Zia is her priority.

“Yes, to make up for the lost times when I got very busy with tapings and just left her. She’s getting bored in the house. Zia is not your typical child whom you can request to just sit down or play with her toys. She’s got a different mind-set. Basically sociable, she’s happier interacting or mingling with other people.

“That’s what I want her to experience again now that I have all the time for her before I’ll start with my next grand program once again. In fact, I’m starting to prepare a program for the two of us which thrills me to the hilt. Part of this is the swimming lesson I intend her to take. Now I can accompany her to that which would serve as a bonding moment for us.”

Yan is aware that her daughter is growing up fast.

“At two years old, she is an active kid. She can converse with you. Would you believe that when Dingdong (Dantes) tagged her along to the gym one time, Zia hung on the monkey bars for ten seconds? Yes! So we thought she can go into gymnastics in the future. Let’s see in what field she’ll be most at ease in the coming days. I’ll just be there to support and guide her,” she says.

This early, many are curious to know if she and Dong will allow Zia to join the ‘biz.

“Personally, we don’t approve of the idea but if ever she gets enticed to follow in our footsteps, we couldn’t do anything about it. We’ll just support her along the way. But first, she has to finish her studies. That’s my condition if ever. We all know how unstable showbiz can get so it’s better to have a fall back just in case, right?”

Speaking of career, the pretty actress confirms that she’s renewing her contract with GMA this month.

“Oh, that’s certain. Actually, it should’ve taken place last December but there were some minor things fixed in the contract. But this January, I will definitely renew as a Kapuso talent,” ends Marian.

Matt Evans doesn’t mind that in his first official show on GMA he’s playing the role of a villain. He’s included in the cast of Sherlock Jr. headlined by Ruru Madrid.

“Honestly, this is one thing I really want to do when I moved to the Kapuso lot. In fact, when asked by top honcho Ms. Lilybeth Rasonable, I told her right away that I don’t want a lead role. So, it’s no big deal if I’m a bad guy here in Sherlock Jr. It’s my choice in the first place,” he explains.

He used to be a lead actor when he was still on ABS-CBN. In 2007, he top-billed the fantasy series Da Adventures of Pedro Penduko.

“That’s right, the reason why I perfectly know the pressure it entails. At this point, I’m more okay with character roles. Apart from the fact that it would make you penetrate the scene easier, playing villainous parts is challenging.”

Matt didn’t find it hard to adjust with his new work environment.

“It helped that I’ve already worked with many Kapuso stars before in road shows or mall events so I know them quite well. It was just a matter of rekindling the acquaintance among ourselves.”

Now that he’s with GMA, who among its wards would he’ll like to work with in upcoming projects?

“Of course, Ate Marian (Rivera). There’s also Dennis Trillo and Tom Rodriguez,” Matt states.
