OFFICIALS of University of Santo Tomas are still finalizing a deal with former La Salle coach Aldin Ayo.

Sources said Ayo could handle the Growling Tigers for the next six years if plans push through.

The University’s Institute of Physical Education and Athletics is expected to make an official announcement on Ayo’s status on  Jan. 11.

Earlier, Ayo confirmed his departure from the La Salle Green Archers camp via his Twitter account, although he is still silent on his status whether he is moving to UST or not.

Ayo, who guided La Salle to two finals’ stints, said the “different views in handling the team,” was one of the main reasons for his departure.

The La Salle Green Archers will now be under Louie Gonzalez, who will make his debut when the team takes part in the Philippine Collegiate Champions League set from on Feb. 2 to 11. His official duty begins on Jan. 16, when the Archers resume their practice sessions.

Gonzalez was Ayo’s deputy with La Salle, Letran and Far Eastern University.
