LA Salle School officials announced the formal appointment of Louie Gonzalez as the Archers' new head coach for Season 91 of the University Athletic Association of the Philippines men’s basketball tournament.
Gonzalez will make his debut when the Green Archers take part in the Philippine Collegiate Champions League set from on Feb. 2 to 11. His official duty begins on Jan. 16, when the Archers resume their practice sessions.
Gonzalez takes the place of Aldin Ayo, who quit last month after steering the Green Archers to a runner-up finish in season 90.
Gonzalez was Ayo’s deputy with La Salle, Letran and Far Eastern University.
La Salle also extended its gratitude to Ayo, who carried the Green Archers to a 30-5 win-loss card for the last two years.
Last Tuesday, Ayo broke his silence and confirmed that he will no longer handle the La Salle men’s basketball team via his Twitter account.
He thanked the La Salle management and the community that supported him and the team during his two-year stint.
Ayo remained quiet about his move to the University of Santo Tomas at this time.
