TV firms post better ratings

Both ABS-CBN Corp. and GMA Network Inc. on Thursday claimed higher audience television ratings in 2017. 

Full-year data provided by multinational audience measurement provider Kantar Media, which uses a nationwide panel size of 2,610 urban and rural homes that represent 100 percent of the total Philippine TV viewing population, showed that ABS-CBN posted a nationwide average audience share of 46 percent in 2017, higher than rival GMA Network’s 34 percent. 

ABS-CBN also ruled nationwide with an average audience share of 45 percent in December versus GMA’s 34 percent.

GMA, however, said it cemented its status as the number one broadcast network in the country after successfully concluding 2017 with remarkable nationwide television ratings performance based on Nielsen TV Audience Measurement’s full year data.

GMA said it registered a winning average of 42.5 percent  total day people audience share in the National Urban Television Audience Measurement, ahead of ABS-CBN’s 36.8 percent.
