Coach Aldin Ayo has broken his silence on Tuesday evening as he official bid goodbye to the La Salle Green Archers.

In a series of messages posted on social media, the 40-year-old mentor expressed his gratitude to patron Eduardo “Danding” Cojuangco Jr. and the De La Salle community.

“Much gratitude to Boss ECJ, the Managers, School Heads, the De La Salle community, all of the Green Archers fans. The two years I have spent with the Archers are two well-spent years indeed,” wrote Ayo on his Twitter account.

His four-month contract with the La Salle ended in 2017 although school officials were expecting Ayo to re-sign a new agreement with the school. He allegedly entered into a lot of verbal agreements to rejoin the Green Archers before season 90 was over.

Ayo, who went on vacation in Sorsogon for the holidays, was supposed to go into talks with school officials and  Cojuangco Jr. by the second week of January.

“The reason why I kept mum is because of an agreement not to disclose any information before the 1st week of January or until the school makes its official statement. I am only breaking my silence since the news has come out earlier than expected and only after getting permission.”

Ayo did not confirm his transfer to the University of Santo Tomas Growling Tigers although he is expected to eventually join the team badly in need of a big rebound in the coming season.

In his first year for the Green Archers in 2016, La Salle won a UAAP championship. Then they lost this year to Ateneo for the title.

Ayo said he and members of the coaching staff had different ways of handling the team, and on their way to the finals.

“We have different views in handling the team. I've always done what is necessary,” said Ayo.

When the season ended with the Green Archers losing the crown to Ateneo, Ayo felt that his career was on another turning point.

“Xroad,” wrote Ayo in another message.
