A Northern Samar mayor is facing fraud charges before the Sandiganbayan for allegedly falsifying a resolution in 2015.
The Office of the Ombudsman filed the case against Mayor Manuel Jaldo of Palapag town, municipal board member Eleno Calot and Sangguniang Bayan secretary Emil Go for supposedly faking a resolution and minutes of a meeting of the municipal council’s special session.
The respondents “willfully, unlawfully and feloniously” falsified Municipal Resolution No. 2015-008, which approved the list of anti-poverty reduction projects in the municipality.
The Ombudsman said the respondents also included municipal board members Sonia Evardone and Anacorito Javier in the minutes of the meeting to make it appear that they took part in the session.
The two board members were absent during the session.
A P24,000 bail was recommended for the provisional liberty for each of the three accused.
