Christmas arrived early for the families of the inmates of the Navotas City Jail, as Mayor John Rey Tiangco and the Manila Chinatown Lions’ Club gave them gifts.
Around 1,200 families received gift packs containing rice, canned goods, toiletries, clothes and slippers.
Tiangco thanked the Lions’ Club for sharing their blessings with the families of the Navotas inmates. He also encouraged the beneficiaries to remain grateful despite their difficult situation.
“I know you are observing Christmas with a tinge of sadness because someone in your family will not be with you during the celebrations. But we hope that through the gifts we have given you, you will feel the warmth and joy that Christmas brings,” Tiangco said.
