FUNDS spent by the national karatedo squad that went to Germany before the 2017 Southeast Asian Games for training has been accounted for.

A top official of the Philippine Karatedo Federatation said it was properly managed and used for the nutrition and food expenses of the national squad for the duration of their stay there.

Secretary general Raymund Lee-Reyes explained this to Philippine Sports Commission Chairman William “Butch” Ramirez following a visit at his office yesterday morning.

“Hindi lang naintindihan kung paano ginamit iyung funds. But the money was properly managed,” said Lee-Reyes.

Lee-Reyes said this  following allegations  that the Philippine national karatedo team received only a fraction of their training  allowances.

Ramirez and Executive Director Sanna Privaldo are now looking into the allegations forwarded by team skipper Eugene Stoner Dagohoy.

Dagohoy claimed that members of the national squad Ireneo Soriano Jr., Mae Soriano and Jayson Macalalang went to Germany before the 2017 Southeast Asian Games for training.

Officials of the Philippine Karatedo Federation reportedly made them sign for only $400 of the $1,800 allotted for each of the 14 members of the national squad.

Lee-Reyes led the delegation that went to the camp from July 20 to Aug. 9.

The PSC released around P3.217 million for the seminars and tournaments joined by the team, plus accommodations, meals and allowances, among others. Peter Atencio
