The Supreme Court (SC) en banc has allowed its justices to testify in the hearing of the Justice Committee in the House of Representatives.

The high tribunal came up with this decision in an en banc session today.

SC Associate Justice Antonio Carpio will draft the guidelines that will govern the appearance of the magistrates in the impeachment hearing against SC Chief Justice Maria Lourdes Sereno.

The House earlier sent subpoenas to SC Associate Justices Teresita Leonardo-De Castro, Noel Tijam and Francis Jardeleza.

The Supreme Court has also allowed other SC officials to show up in the hearing.

They are Court Administrator Midas Marquez, Clerk of Court Felipa Anama and Public Information Office Chief Theodore Te.

They are also allowed to bring documents so long as these are part of previous decisions made by the Supreme Court.

The SC justices and officials' testimonies are meant to either confirm or refute the allegations made by Attorney Larry Gadon against Sereno.
