PH’s Tabora 6th in Bowling World Cup after 12 games

THE Philippines’ Krizziah Lyn Tabora compiled a 12-game series of 2587 pinfalls Tuesday to rank sixth and stay in strong contention for one of the 24 women’s qualifying spots in the 53rd Bowling World international finals in Hermosillo, Mexico.

Also the Philippine representative in the prestigious global event in Poland in 2012, Tabora posted a high game of 264 en route to a 215.58 average.

Sweden’s Jenny Wegner, shooting a second perfect game, retained the lead with 2763, followed by Germany’s Vanessa Timter (2706), Colombia’s Rocio Restrepo (2641), the USA’s Erin McCarthy (2617) and Mexico’s Maribel Orozco (2611).

The other Filipino aspirant, Jomar Roland Jomapao, collected 2417 pinfalls in 12 games check in 23rd in the men’s division.

Jomapao, a member of the Philippine team who is based in Cebu City, shot a high game of 233 and averaged 201.42.

Mexico’s Arturo Estrada kept top spot with a 12-game series of 2682, followed by Colombia’s Oscar Rodriguez (2639), Finland’s Niko Oksanen (2606), American Jakob Butturff (2604), Italy’s Nicola Pongolini (2589) and Catalonia’s Luis Monfort (2583).

All participants in the week-long event will play two more 6-game series to determine the top 24 who will advance to the second round.

Legendary Paeng Nepomuceno leads the list of Filipino pintopplers who have claimed the international crown so far.  Nepomuceno ranks number one among the world champions, having ruled the World Cup four times.
