The Department of Transportation (DOTr) promises to exercise transparency when the contract to provide service maintenance for the Metro Rail Transit – 3 (MRT-3) undergoes pre-bidding process.

DOTr Undersecretary Cesar Chavez says watchdogs will be invited to witness the proceedings.

Among those that will be invited are representatives from the Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) and Volunteers Against Crime and Corruption (VACC).

Chavez notes at least three international companies intend to join the bidding.

These are Sumimoto Corporation of Japan, SMRT Corporation of Singapore and RAPT DEV, which is the service provider of Light Rail Transit System Line – 1 (LRT-1).

Chavez's statement comes after DOTr terminated the P 3.8-billion contract of MRT-3 with its service provider, Busan Universal Rail Incorporated (BURI).

DOTr cited poor performance for the termination of the deal that was supposed to end in 2019.
