Environmentalists trooped last Friday and filed specific complaints at the Department of Environment and Natural Resources against several industrial factories and steel mills located at the National Capital Region, Region 3 (Pampanga) and Region 11 (Davao) for various violations of the Philippine Clean Air Act including the Environmental Compliance Certificate/ Environmental Impact Assessment law.
Additional complaints against these same factories were also filed by Clean Air Philippines Movement Inc, together with the Philippine Associations of Free Labor Unions at the Department of Labor and Employment for massive violations on the law on occupational safety and health hazards including other pertinent labor laws.
CAPMI president Manuel Galvez yesterday revealed the names of the different respondents in their complaints at DENR and DoLE. Named in the complaints are the Melter Steel Corporation, Real Steel Corporation and Wan Chiong Steel Corporation in Pampanga; the Davao Mighty Steel Corporation in Davao City and the Metrodragon Steel Corporation in Caloocan City, Metro Manila.
