MMDA braces for transport strike on Monday

Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) is bracing for the transport strike on Monday and Tuesday.

It has arranged for the deployment of more than forty-one (41) vehicles to fetch commuters who will be stranded during the two-day protests.

The fleet includes buses and military trucks to be sent in strategic areas in Metro Manila.

Group Piston is leading the strike to protest government's transport modernization program.

Some local governments units (LGUs) and school administrations in the National Capital Region and provinces have already suspended classes.

These include Makati City, Davao City, San Fernando City in Pampanga, San Mateo in Rizal, University of Santo Tomas in Legazpi, Albay and the National Teachers' College in Manila.

More LGUs and schools may announce class suspensions before Monday.
