THE Presidential Task Force on Media Security  celebrated  its 1st anniversary Wednesday at the National Press Club in Intramuros, Manila.

PTFoMS co-chairman Presidential Communications Operations Office  Secretary Martin Andanar  addressed the members of the media, together with the observers, resource persons and member-agencies of the Task Force.

The heads of the Member-Agencies include Undersecretary Catalino Cuy, OIC of the Department of the Interior and Local Government; Secretary Delfin Lorenzana of the Department of National Defense; Solicitor General Jose Calida; Executive Director Severo Catura of the Presidential Human Rights Committee; General Eduardo M. Año, Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces of the Philippines; Director General Ronald dela Rosa of the Philippine National Police; and Director Dante Gierran of the National Bureau of Investigation.

Through a video presentation, the TF  shared  its modest successes through the help of member-agencies and the TF’s observers/resource persons from the Commission on Human Rights, Office of the Ombudsman, Center for Media Freedom and Responsibility, Kapisanan ng mga Brodkaster ng Pilipinas, National Press Club, National Union of Journalists of the Philippines, Philippine Press Institute and the Publishers Association of the Philippines, a year after it was created.

The families of media men killed and those who survived an attempt on their lives  also attended the event as  a fitting tribute to the first and probably the only TF in the world to aggressively advance press freedom by protecting the life, liberty and security of media workers and their families.
