Duterte: PDEA in charge of all anti-drug drive

President Rodrigo Duterte has made the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) the government unit in charge of all campaigns against illegal drugs.

The Chief Executive issued a memorandum for this purpose.

He mandated other agencies that all information and operations against illegal drug trade shall be conducted by PDEA.

In response, PDEA Director Aaron Aquino says, the agency has only about 1,000 operatives.

He admits, they will still need the help of the Philippine National Police in the fight against drug lords and drug traffickers.
