Mariano faces CA for third time

Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) Secretary Rafael Mariano is facing the Commission on Appointments for the third time on Wednesday.

Today is CA members' turn to ask Mariano questions.

Yesterday, the panel heard 9 out of 10 oppositors to the nomination of Mariano to the DAR post.

The oppositors included peasant leaders from Hacienda Luisita.

They accused Mariano of lack of objectivity when he allegedly sided with Ambala, a farmers' group in Tarlac City.

Representatives from Lapanday Foods Corporation also opposed Mariano's nomimation.

They linked Mariano to the burning of plants by suspected New People's Army in Davao last April.
