Thunder turn back Dolphins

CYRUS Tabi nailed two free throws with no time left as Rizal Technological University nipped Philippine Christian University,  69-68, in the battle of unbeaten teams in the NAASCU Season 17 men-s basketball tournament at the RTU gym in Mandaluyong.

Tabi went for the game-winner and drew a foul from Chris Okoronkwo of PCU as time expired, sending him to the free throw line and allowing the Blue Thunder to escape with their third win in as many matches 

Tabi finished with a game-high 26 points for the Johnedel Cardel-mentored Thunder,  who also won over City University of Pasay and St. Francis of Assisi College.

PCU suffered its first setback after two consecutive wins over  defending champion St. Clare College and Lyceum of Subic Bay.

In other matches,  Philippine Merchant Marine School outsteadied AMA University, 79-70, for its first win in two matches in Group A; and New Era University outclassed De La Dalle-Araneta University, 70-57, for its second win in three outings in Group B.
