The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) has heard on Friday the petition for increase in taxi fare.

LTFRB Board Member and Spokesperson Aileen Lizada relayed the information in a press briefing.

Operators and drivers are seeking an increase of two pesos in the rate for every succeeding kilometer in the distance travelled by taxi units.

If the petition is granted, this will bring up the current rate of P 3.50 to P 5.50.

Philippine National Taxi Operators Association (PNTOA) President and Basic taxi fleet owner Bong Suntay says, it is time to raise taxi fare.

He claims, it has been 8 years since the last fare adjustment was implemented.
