MILO Philippines launched a selection camp for children called “Road to Barcelona” to scout for the next football champions and give them an opportunity to train overseas.

A team of 10 kids will be sent by MILO Philippines to join the “Road to Barcelona,” an international training camp in Camp Nou, FC Barcelona’s home stadium.

From Sept. 2 to 3, there will be a local selection camp for participants from different football communities at the McKinley Hill Stadium in Taguig City.

MILO and FC Barcelona will grant two deserving young athletes the chance to train with international pros for one of the world’s most prestigious sports organizations, while the remaining eight for the official shortlist will be chosen based on the ranking system of the local camp.

The selection criteria emphasizes the right mix of values and skill at 60% and 40%, respectively.

FC Barcelona boasts of five principal values that coincide with MILO’s brand essence of enriching ambitions—humility, effort, ambition, respect and teamwork.

“MILO believes that so many children here in the country can greatly benefit from getting into sports. It’s time for Filipino talent to take on the world atage. We want this to be a meaningful endeavor—one that builds dreams, makes them a reality, and shares the journey to the next generation of champions on and off the pitch,” said Sports Marketing Executive of MILO Philippines Robbie De Vera.

MILO teamed up with FC Barcelona to help build the dreams of young athletes through access to world-class coaching and venues.

“We are honored to have one of the biggest football clubs in the world share in our commitment to build champions through sports. It is our hope that this values-driven partnership helps build kids’ dreams and realize them through the Road to Barcelona program. We’re inviting the passionate local sports community to be a part of this four-year journey with FC Barcelona,” said Business Unit Manager of MILO Philippines Willy de Ocampo.

MILO has become FC Barcelona’s official cocoa malt beverage since the global partnership was announced last November 2016. The two global sports icons will continue to develop grassroots programs along with the culture and values unique to the club.
