LINGAYEN, Pangasinan—“Be force multipliers in Disaster Risk Reduction and Management,” Gov. Amado I. Espino III said as he addressed over 300 participants of ABS-CBN’s Red Alert Emergency Expo held at the Capitol Resort Hotel here.

“Be force multipliers. If you know it, teach it to your fellow citizens,” Espino said, as he urged Pangasinenses to work together with the provincial government to help level up the DRRM capabilities of local communities.

Likewise, the governor appealed for support for his flagship program on disaster preparedness, dubbed “Aktibo at Ligtas na Pamayanan” (Safe and Active Communities), a community-based DRRM capability enhancement program supervised by the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office.

Espino said the provincial government presented the new set of equipment and vehicles procured by the province during the kick-off ceremony of the national disaster resilience month in Pangasinan held on July 10, which will be utilized to level up the province’s DRRM.

As a host local government unit, Espino expressed gratitude to ABS-CBN for choosing Pangasinan as the first provincial venue of the emergency expo outside Metro Manila.

ABS-CBN was led by its senior vice president Ging Reyes, who brought along a team of 150 executives and staff to ensure the success of the event.

The expo, now on its fourth year, is an educational and experiential learning exposition of ABS-CBN, which seeks to empower the listeners and viewers of ‘Red Alert sa DZMM’ and ‘Red Alert Program’ by teaching them survival and emergency response tips and disaster preparedness.

Sharing the province’s best practices in DRMM, particularly in water search and rescue, were crewmen from the PDRRMO.

Other lectures conducted by ABS-CBN include fire safety and fire drill, hostile environment rescue operations, Eveready “e-balde,” mobile earthquake simulator, survival Olympics. Some 250 participants were sent by the local government unit of Lingayen, University of Pangasinan-Phinma and STI College Dagupan.
