Severe tropical storm "Gorio" maintains its strength as it moves toward Taiwan.
In a press conference before noon on Friday, PAGASA weather forecaster Aldczar Aurelio reported that Gorio was located at 10 am on Friday to be at 360 kilometers east of Basco, Batanes.
It is packing maximum sustained winds of up to 360 kilometers per hour (kph) near the center and gustiness of 130 kph.
Gorio is moving northwest at 15 kph.
On Saturday morning, Gorio will be approaching Taiwan.
It will be outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) by Sunday.
Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal Number 1 remains up over Batanes.
Metro Manila and the Western portion of Luzon will still experience some monsoon rains.
The same weather will prevail in Ilocos, Central Luzon, Mimaropa and Calabarzon.
