THE NCAA has postponed its pair of games today featuring both the juniors’ and seniors’ teams of San Sebastian College and Jose Rizal at the San Sebastian Gym in Mendiola, Manila due to inclement weather caused by Typhoon Gorio.

“Due to bad weather and suspension of classes, the NCAA games today (yesterday), July 27, are cancelled,” said NCAA management committee chairman Fr. Glyn Ortega, OAR, of Season 93 host San Sebastian.

Ortega said the postponed games will be rescheduled late in the first round of elimination.

The six games today at the Filoil Arena in San Juan City, however, are still on schedule.

Lyceum of the Philippines University is eyeing to extend its amazing streak to five as it clashes with Mapua University (1-3) at 2 p.m., while University of Perpetual Help-System Dalta (1-2) and Emilio Aguinaldo College (2-2) collide at 12 noon.

Arellano University (2-2) and College of St. Benilde (1-2), for their part, tangle at 4 p.m.

The Pirates are off to their best start since joining the league six seasons ago after stringing together four straight wins, all the expense of title-contending teams like Jose Rizal, San Sebastian, last year’s runner-up Arellano University and defending champion San Beda.

And it looks like LPU is favored to snatch win No. 5 against an undermanned Mapua side.

“The championship is there but is not within our reach. We need to win more games to get there,” said LPU coach Topex Robinson.
