PAGASA reports tropical storm "Gorio" has developed into a severe tropical storm.
The weather disturbance is beginning to slowly move northwest.
At 5 pm, it was spotted 595 kilometers east of Tuguegarao City.
Gorio has maximum sustained winds of up to 90 kilometers per hour (kph) near the center and gustiness of up to 115 kph.
It is forecast to move northwest at 13 kph.
Moderate to heavy rainfall is expected within the storm's 550-kilometer diameter.
Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal Number One (1) has been raised over Batanes.
Metro Manila will continue to have moderate to heavy rains due to the Southwest Monsoon that is enhanced by Gorio.
The same weather will prevail in the western section of Luzon.
The rest of Luzon and Visayas will have light to moderate rains.
