Palace seeking 2nd Sona translators

Malacañang plans to hire interpreters who will translate President Rodrigo Duterte’s second State of the Nation Address for attending diplomats.

“We are also thinking of hiring interpreters,” Communications Secretary Martin Andanar said in a radio dzBB interview.

“The problem is, although everyone could understand English, sometimes the President speaks in  Visayan dialect, sometimes in Tagalog, that’s why not all could understand,” Andanar said.

Duterte will be delivering his second Sona on July 24,  and  local officials and diplomats are expected to attend.

Andanar said preparations are currently underway for the annual event.

Andanar said   brochures  will be distributed to Sona attendees highlighting the accomplishments of the Duterte administration during his first year in office.

“Aside from the simple Sona wanted by the  President without what we call a  fashion show, we are  preparing a brochure, with pictures of the  projects of the President that will be implemented or he will be doing the groundbreaking, that would be distributed to the guests in the gallery,” Andanar said.

“We will give out the brochures in the  gallery while the President delivers his speech,” he said.
