Makati Education department head Norma Tumambing said the city government has allocated P20 million for the Makati College Scholarship Program for this school year.

Makati college scholars in UP and PNU receive a monthly stipend of P4,000 each for five months per semester, aside from their tuition fees and other school fees shouldered by the city government. They also receive book allowance every semester—P5,000 for scholars in UP and P4,000 for scholars in PNU.

For the first semester of academic year ‎2017-2018, Tumambing reported five city scholars in UP and nine in PNU taking up various courses.

Now on their third year at UP are scholars Henry Laynesa, Jr., Computer Science; Kate Malda, Statistics; and Louisa Eubie Mae Milambilin, Public Administration. Fourth year scholars are Diana Oblino, Speech Communication; and Helli-mar Trilles, Civil Engineering.

Makati scholars now on their third year at PNU are Monica Althea Alcantara, taking up English Education; Daniella Andrea Bustillo, Filipino Education; Ira Louise Ramos, English Education; and Leslie Tarroma, Filipino Education.

Fourth year scholars at PNU include Sarah Cabbuag, English Education; Patrisha Marquez, Social Science Education; Mary Bernadette Dela Cruz, Divine Grace Ellana and Wilma Gabrielle Galutera, Early Childhood Education.

The college scholarship program awards full scholarship to qualified, deserving Makati public high school graduates. To retain their scholarship, scholars in UP must maintain the required average grade of 2.0 or its equivalent, for a load of at least 15 units with no failing grade.

PNU scholars, on the other hand, are required to maintain the required average grade of 85 percent for a load of at least 15 units with no failing grade.
