Commotion ensued along Padre Faura Street in Manila on Tuesday morning.

Pushing and shoving between the anti-riot police and members of militant groups occurred as protesters removed the railing that was blocking their way towards the area in front of the Supreme Court.

Demonstrators were able to reach up to the gates of the high tribunal.

Bagong Alyansang Makabayan Secretary General Renato Reyes Jr. was among the protest leaders.

He criticized law enforcers for supposedly being too strict in prohibiting them from approaching the Supreme Court building.

He claimed the actions of the Manila Police District was an "overkill."

The protesters are holding a rally in anticipation of the Supreme Court’s possible release of its decision on the petitions questioning the imposition of martial law in Mindanao.

The justices’ verdict may be known today.
