The Intelligence Chief of Alaminos Police in Laguna was killed in an apparent ambush.
Alaminos police chief Senior Inspector Jollymar Seloterio said, the victim, Police Officer 3 Eduardo Cruz, died when he was shot by armed men at 5 pm on Sunday in Barangay Poblacion 1.
Cruz was on board a Mitsubishi Lancer when he was attacked.
He was on a surveillance mission along with his team.
After the shooting incident, the three suspects fled to Barangay San Andres on board another vehicle.
Upon reaching a police post, they were reportedly flagged down but they did not stop.
A firefight supposedly ensued.
Two of the three suspects were wounded and arrested while the third suspect was able to escape.
Seloterio said the gunmen used to be members of the Marines.
