Ford’s car sales rose 4% in April

Ford Philippines said Wednesday vehicle sales grew 4 percent to 3,036 units in May from a year ago, on strong demand for the Everest, Ranger and EcoSport nameplates.

“Our most popular nameplates – Everest, Ranger and EcoSport – are continuing to drive our overall sales and helping us stay on track for another record year,” said Ford Philippines managing director Lance Mosley. 

“Additionally, our Ford Island Conquest roadshow has so far been very successful in providing even more access to our brand in key locations around the country and a unique test drive experience with our Ford vehicles,” he said.

The company said it sold 1,061 units of Everest in May and 4,629 units in the first five months.

Sales of EcoSport compact SUV increased 7 percent in May 908 units and 20 percent in the first five months to 4,241 units.

Sales of Ranger rose 6 percent year-on-year to 832 units in May, helping drive its year-to-date sales by 11 percent to 3,716 units.  

Meanwhile, Ford’s North American-built models contributed to the record sales of the premium Explorer SUV which increased 73 percent year-on-year to 126 units in May. The Mustang delivered monthly sales of 31 units.
