THE Philippines’ First Woman World Chess Grandmaster WGM Janelle Mae Frayna will conduct a 30-player simultaneous exhibition organized by Joel Villanueva, together with Raymundo Espiritu and David Bayarong.
The chess exhibition will be hosted by Olongapo City Mayor Rolen C. Paulino at 10 a.m. today at the 2nd Floor of FMA Hall, City Hall.
The aim of this event is for the chess development and awareness of the youth, especially for young women players as well as to raise funds for WGM Frayna’s European campaign as she embarks on a journey to reach the Top 10 among women players in the world in the next 2 to 4 years.
The event is supported by Rep. Jeffrey Khonghun of Zambales, Ruben De Guzman, Chairman of MOCCI, Harben Panoy and Vice Mayor Aquilino Cortez and the City Councilors of Olongapo.
After the exhibition games of the WGM, a chess lecture and lesson will be conducted by her Coach, GM Jayson Gonzales who has been actively promoting chess throughout the country for so many years.
