BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya—The provincial government here will establish a Cultural Arts Center to train and promote the rich cultural heritage and art skills of Novo Vizcayanos.

Former governor Ruth Padilla, president of the Nueva Vizcaya Tourism Council, said the PLGU and the Nueva Vizcaya State University in this town have already signed a Memorandum of Agreement for the provision of a two-hectare lot inside the campus for the CAC.

The arts center, which has an initial fund of P3 million, will be the first of its kind in the Cagayan Valley region and will also cater to other provinces.

“We have a lot of talented Novo Vizcayanos. This will be a venue to showcase our useful culture and traditional practices of our indigenous people and to teach our villagers to appreciate arts and culture,” Padilla said.

She said the National Commission on Culture and the Arts will be providing technical assistance once the CAC’s construction starts anytime this year.

The CAC will have a theatrical stage, an amphitheater, and a gallery to encourage cultural learning and art appreciation, Padilla said.

“We expect that this will also attract local and foreign tourists and our fellow Novo Vizcayanos from here and abroad, because we are encouraging Novo Vizcayanos to first patronize our turf in terms of tourism exposure so that we can promote our province more,” she said.

Meanwhile, Rep. Luisa Cuaresma recently allotted P5 million for the establishment of the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority Training Center in barangay La Torre North here.

The fund will augment the local government unit’s resources in erecting a two-storey, four-classroom Tesda building.

Mayor Ralph Lantion said the project is intended to reduce unemployment in the municipality.

“This will provide skills and training for our out of school youths and unemployed villagers so they can be employed or use their skills to support their family,” he said.
