The tollway unit of Metro Pacific Investments Corp. said it is in talks with the Duterte administration over the implementation of overdue toll increases at the expressways in the south and north of Manila.

Under the Aquino administration, sizable pending tariff adjustments accumulated on all Metro Pacific Tollways Corp.’s toll roads through successive failure to raise tariffs.

Metro Pacific Tollway said on the North Luzon Expressway, the tariff increases now amount to 20 percent for the open system and 32 percent for the closed system.

It said on the Manila Cavite Expressway the increases amount to 25 percent on R1 and 42 percent on the R1 Extension; and on the Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway, they amount to 48 percent.

Manila North Tollways Corp. and Cavitex Infrastructure Corp. each issued a notice of arbitration and statement of claim to the government last year to obtain compensation amounting to about P3 billion for NLEx and P877 million for Cavitex.
